The Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC) Scandinavia and the Managing Partner of LRA Consulting, Ayoola Lawal has commended the European Union for the huge donation to the Nigerian government in support of the fight against the ravaging coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
He also lauded the Federal government of Nigeria’s strategy taken from beginning till date to avoid a repeat of the Western world scenarios in the most populated black nation in the world, Nigeria.
He further applauded the Governor of Lagos State, Nigeria, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for stepping up in providing real leadership in this dark time in the history of the world.
In a statement, He said, “the social intervention palliatives which were rolled out in less than 24 hours after President Muhammadu Buhari, nationwide broadcast extended lockdown of Lagos, Ogun and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to support and ameliorate the inconvenience being experienced by vulnerable people as occasioned by the first and extended lockdown shows that he understands the plights of the Lagos residents.
“As his (Sanwo-Olu’s) government is opening food kitchens to 100,00 youths in all the local councils and developmental areas in the Lagos State, unconditional cash transfer to 250,000 vulnerable residents and economically challenged persons with registered Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA), deferring the payment of accruing loan interests for beneficiaries of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and entrepreneurs that got repayable loans from Lagos State Employment Trust Funds (LSETF), and the release of all private and commercial vehicles impounded from March 1, 2020, for minor traffic offences by the police, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and Vehicle Inspection Agency to date, Lagos residents should please follow the government directives, and more importantly, be creative on how we can all come together to support each other in staying strong and prevent the spreading of the disease.”
While stressing on the fact that nothing can replace preparedness, he implored “Nigerians especially Lagos, Ogun and Abuja residents to stay strong for the next 14 days in order for the authority to contact, identify, test, isolate and admit suspected and confirmed cases and prevent the worst in Nigeria.”
Ayoola urged the residents of Lagos State and visitors to cooperate with the Lagos State Ministry of Health team and Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) by providing accurate information relating to their health status and follow Federal government directives because no one is immune to ravaging COVID-19 pandemic.
