Governors meet Buhari, fail to agree on state police

President Buhari met with 36 state governors and security chiefs on Fraiday, June 7 – The crux of the meeting borders on security challenges with a major focus on the creation of state police – The chairman of the NGF, Kayode Fayemi said state governors were yet to reach consensus on whether or not state police should be created President Muhammadu Buhari, governors of the 36 states and security chiefs on Friday, June 7, met at the presidential villa, Abuja.

Reporting the details of the meeting, ThisDay states that the 36 state governors disagreed on the increasing agitations for the introduction of state police. According to the newspaper, chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) and governor of Ekiti state, Kayode Fayemi, said this while briefing newsmen in the State House after the meeting, adding that the governors were yet to reach a consensus on the matter.
