UK: The Persecution of Nigeria Vice President Must Stop- N2015 Group

Persecution of Vice President Prof Yemi Osinbajo must stop.
The deliberate plot to smear and damage the name of the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo SAN, going by the recent media frenzy and hype following bogus and senseless accusations against him has not come to us at Nigeria 2015 Group as a surprise.

The Vice President by his public utterances and visage, his candour, his humility, his loyalty to his team leader and principal; President Muhammadu Buhari and his empathy with the poor and voiceless majority has often made him come across as not the typical Nigerian political leader. These virtues make him stand and there are those who see him as probably winning the hearts and minds of Nigerians and has become a present danger to their vaunted ambition.

As Vice President, his loyalty to President Muhammadu Buhari is not doubt; and he consistently demonstrates the unwavering vision of Mr President to grow a country freed from the scourge of unbridled corruption and the capture of state resources by the few who deprive great the majority of Nigerians access to basic infrastructure necessary for the attainment of self-sufficiency and pursuit of happiness.

His leadership of the economic team of President Muhammadu Buhari’s led government has led to the biggest and most focused people-centred investment in social welfare and wealth creation programmes in Nigeria’s history.
As a group of Nigerian patriots in the All progressives Congress (APC) who are committed unreservedly to the promotion of the radical transformational agenda of the Buhari led government, we see the unrelenting attacks on the Vice President as attacks on the Presidency of President Muhammadu Buhari, as these two leaders have shown a clear departure from a past where trust was often in short supply between the President and the Vice President in previous governments at Aso Rock Villa seat of the Federal government of Nigeria.

We at the Nigerian 2015 Group (N2015) stand with, and in total support of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo SAN and we are most pleased by his actions and responses to these mendacious accusations. We are most gratified, that Prof Osinbajo, continues to show to Nigerians that leaders can be positively different. His decision to waive his constitutional immunity to clear his name, his advice to his lawyers to take all necessary measures to bring the offending parties before the hall justice, his direct and fearless public engagement with all debates is both reassuring and radically unheard of from the hallow chambers of Nigeria’s political power base.

We are N2015G as members of the APC and supporters of President Buhari are pleased that we belong in the same political family as Prof Yemi Osinbajo and assure him of our confidence in his commitment to a great and prosperous Nigeria. We are proud of his total loyalty to the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari. We encourage the Vice President to not relent in his pursuit of all necessary legal options to clear his name in promotion of good governance in Nigeria, and elevation of the standards required of truly great leadership as art in Nigeria’s democratic maturation.

Signed.
