Adventure returns with four specials on HBO Max. HBO’s highly anticipated streaming service is poised to compete with Disney +, Netflix, Amazon and Apple TV +, bringing tons of both original and familiar. Slated for release in the spring of 2020, HBO Max will feature favorite series such as Friends, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Doctor Who and Top Gear. Other concerts hitting this ambitious new service include the revival of The Boondocks, a moving Gremlins prequel series and, more excitingly, a series of Adventure Time specials.
The Adventure Time premiered on Cartoon Network in 2010, turning it into one of the network’s most popular shows and winning eight Primetime Emmy awards. The show centered around the young adventurer Finn and the magical, global dog of Jake, both traveling the world to fight the bad guys and prove themselves as heroes. The finale of Adventure Time series aired on September 3, 2018.
Now, adventure time is coming to HBO Max in 2020 – this time in a format that will no doubt please its huge fanbase. HBO has ordered four hours specifically from Cartoon Network Studios. The specials, all under the umbrella title Adventure Time: Distant Lands, will each follow fan-favorite characters as they explore exciting new locations. The first two installments will hit the screens in 2020, two years after the original series is completed. The other two have no release dates yet. Before then, if you want to go even deeper into the show, there’s a comic book about it.
The first special, titled “BMO”, follows the live video game system (Beemo, Voice) as it fights an intergalactic threat. Hot in BMO T-shirts is “Obsidian”, which records the adventures of Princess Bubblegum and Marceline. “Wizard City” and “Together Again” will include Peppermint Butler and Finn and Jake, respectively. Full of colorful characters and hilarious twists and turns, Adventure Time has thrilled fans and critics with the unexpected fantasy approach. These complementary stories will undoubtedly have the same impact.
In a press release, head of HBO Max’s original content, Sarah Aubrey, said: “The magical world of adventure time has fascinated viewers and critics as well as Fink and Jake with errors and battles with evil. family lineup programming is sure to make kids everywhere say “Slam-bam-in-a-can!” “
Even today, a year after it’s completed, Adventure Time remains one of the most popular Cartoon Network shows ever – and for good reason. It features fun characters, wildly funny religions, and more than enough wackiness to make even the richest viewers smile. There was nothing like it, and the public seemed to recognize it. His return will bring back the fans and, with the wars in full swing, Adventure could be an important selling point for the HBO Max.
